It's not a great picture because I couldn't get any closer to the baby due to camera restrictions but there ya go! I don't think they were aiming to recreate a specific historical period - more like the 'feel' of the middle ages.
A lot of the clothing, for example, would never have been worn in that time period, especially the women's garments. But that's ok with me - I've spent all day playing and my kingdom completed the first level (sorry, I don't know all the terminology yet) with a platinum score, which is great.
Now I'm bleary eyed from staring at the computer and I guess level 2 will have to wait till tomorrow. As for real life - later. This game is very compelling.

Part of my thinking about the fact that the clothing customization is that they want the feel to remain true to a point. I don't think there were a lot of patterns to be had back in those days.
Not to mention, not saying anyone on this forum would do it /not trying to offend, I don't think they want to see Peteran Priests in hello kitty robes. There are a lot of RPG games out there where there is no choice between color for the gear you're wearing. 'You want to be a king? Ok here's a crown and a funny lil jacket - toodaloo.
My Doctor got his bride pregnant when they had to consummate their elopement (otherwise the monarch was going to have him executed for not seeking her approval first) through 'Woohoo'. I have yet to see a 'Try for Baby' option for my Licentious Doctor and his ladyfriend, now wife.
It would be more realistic of pregnancies just happened because back in the Medieval times there really wasn't any information around family planning and contraception methods. Just an FYI for all you Medieval players rushing off to have your own nooboo: the men (yes, even my doctor) still freak out the same as in TS3! Ricalynn, now that you mention it, I heard a noise too and even commented to my husband about it at the time but didn't put 2 and 2 together until your comment. The 'chime' definitely isn't as obvious as in TS3. I think pregnancy occurs randomly whenever your sims WooHoo. My priest and wizard had a baby on their very first WooHoo.since the priest is licentious I'm kind of concerned that their home is going to be overrrun with children - I read that they don't age up beyond the child stage and are NPCs, so do they just stay part of your hero's household forever?
Might just have to stick to some kissy-face to keep him happy. There is also no way to select the baby's gender, you just get what the game gives you. I'd be interested to know if the mother (or parents if the couple is married) have to care for the nooboo at all. My priest was my active sim and not married to my wizard during their daughter's infancy and the only option available to him was to cuddle the nooboo.
One other question - since the child is an NPC, do you have to put a bed in the house for them? In the buildings I've placed so far it could be a bit problematic, as there isn't a lot of extra space for large pieces of furniture. Fathers cuddle the nooboo and Mothers cuddle and feed.
That's the only two options. The only choice you get for nooboos is name. Traits and everything else are random.
My Knight and Physician had three children - two girls and one boy. All three children had the same traits and all three had the title of Lil Swordsman/Swordlady which made me think they were baby knights not doctors I ended up moving things around the clinic to give them beds because they were sleeping in the waiting room which didn't seem right. I did notice being in the same building as the baby the active Hero Sim was the one that got the 'baby crying' debuff. The other one didn't seem to care at all. My favorite thing to do with the children is to send them to the village shoppe to get stuff I need for cooking though since you can check their inventory from anywhere as long as they aren't in a rabbit hole.
That is so cool! With your 3 children, did the knight always initiate WooHoo? My child has the title Little Prioress and I wonder if the child automatically takes a title based on the father or if it might be dependent on who initiates WooHoo/is the active hero at the time of conception.
To have 3 with all the same title makes me suspect that it is not completely random. I have no idea where I'm going to put more beds in the Wizard's tower (my priest moved into my wizard's house when they married) - it's kind of cramped in there as it is. Little Prioress Adrianna has a single bed on the very top floor.
The kids do sleep in a bed if one is provided. I did notice that when they get married, sometimes the spouse stays the night and sometimes they don't. My monarch married a tradesman, but he stays at home most nights. When my spy got married, her spouse very rarely stayed at home. I use the tags to kinds see where they are, so that helps.
It is funny to see the parent you do not control pick the baby up and cuddle and play with it. Even little children will come over to the basinet and play with the baby. I thought that was cute. My bard ended up having a baby and the poor thing was put right by the stage, what a way for a child to grow up, lol. There were alot of kids in the tavern.
From what I have read and from the fairs I have been to, when the children are young, they just do whatever they want and basically have no discipline from their parents. I know one medieval fair I went to, they had a gypsy camp and that is where alot of children are too and traveling carnivals have younger kids and teens. Those were very interesting times, to say the least. The children did alot of the work that the parents didn't want to do or have the time to do. Hmm, maybe need to get some reading material on Medieval Times. You nailed it, Joria. I don't think there's one right starting strategy — it just depends on what you want to focus on first.
What specific Ambition you have is a big part of that. With New Beginnings it's all about placing buildings. So, work backwards in your thinking — how do you make sure you can place a lot of buildings?
Answer: your Kingdom must always have plenty of RP. How do you make sure your Kingdom has plenty of RP?
Answer: By choosing Quests that provide the highest return of RP for a top medal. If your Kingdom Ambition was wealth or having Heroes hit their profession cap, then you'd probably want to take slightly different types of Quests depending on their payout.
1:It seems whenever i play as the physician NPCs will walk into the physician's area, allow me to diagnose them, however as soon as my physician has finished the task they walk off, as if they have somewhere better to be. I have even tried trapping them in a locked room with my physician, which seem to end up with the NPC disappearing into thin air after finding they can't get to wherever they suddenly need to go (when they decide they should exit). (this was funny at first, as it seemed like the sims didn't like going to the doctor, but after a while it is just plain annoying) 2:When playing kingball there are missing animations when sims are hit, this is just something i keep noticing and i thought that the patch should have fixed it (i am not asking for a fix for these things, just whether it happens to anyone else). 1:It seems whenever i play as the physician NPCs will walk into the physician's area, allow me to diagnose them, however as soon as my physician has finished the task they walk off, as if they have somewhere better to be. It can be handy to get a non-controlled sim to head in the direction you want them to go in, and to clear unwanted sims out of a building. If you're actually trying to treat them or just find out if they're ill then click the operating table to see who comes up as needing treated instead. If you have to diagnose them for a respo and also wanted to interact with them in other ways, do the interactions first then use diagnose when you're done. You could always try the functions that invite them to stay first and then try diagnose and see if they'll stick around after that.
I haven't noticed a problem with the kingball court. 1:It seems whenever i play as the physician NPCs will walk into the physician's area, allow me to diagnose them, however as soon as my physician has finished the task they walk off, as if they have somewhere better to be. I'm not sure I understand the problem with the physician. Did you want people to stay there? I couldn't get people to leave.
It you want them to stay then give them a reason to. Put in an outdoor spit. Put in a bookcase. Put in a comfy sofa, a chamber pot, and a sink. A sink is a huge draw and always seems to have a crowd around it. Try a beer keg or a wine barrel. Why would you want them to stay once a cure has been affected?

I want them to stay because i haven't cured them yet and when i get my physician to diagnose them to find out if a sim is ill, they then walk out before i can cure them (occasionally you can diagnose a sim and they are ill without showing signs of it, by the time your physician gets to the operation machine the NPC sim has left the area). Here are some screen shots of kingball glitch i have actually only seen this happen when my active sim is playing the game and one of the sims in that game gets hit (only happens occasionally as it seems to be a missing animation glitch) Oh yeah I did see this on my old computer, I haven't noticed this on my new one though, so it might be a processing problem, although I do agree it looks more like a missing animation.I'll take a closer look for that in game later. I haven't used the kingball court in a while, since I don't get much of a chance to play anymore, and my current kingdom.which has been current for a couple of months now:( doesn't have the kingball court in it yet. If you're actually looking to treat them, you'll need to use the operating table to check who's actually ill, and leave diagnose for the respo, or getting rid of unwanted sims. I treat diagnose like, 'oh yes, you should definitely make an appointment to come and see me and we'll start you on some treatments for your infection':P. One thing you can do mlmbug, is to pause your game right when you are ready to diagnose and also administer a cure and/or give them first aid.
Make sure the patient is close to your doc before pausing, or you can pause right when your doc has taken the patient's tongue out, then while paused select in the options to choose a cure for the sim, if you already know he/she is ill, and/or then also select to give first aid, as you can have up to 8 tasks in a row by default for a sim to take the actions you have selected, or use the mod for up to 20. Then unpause the game, and watch your doc do his/her stuff. The sim will never escape his/her medicine that way. Its what I do when I figure I will not have the time to select the options I want my sims to take next before the npc will take off.
The problem with pausing is that you have to cure the sim after you diagnose to find out if they are actually ill, my issue isn't really diagnosing sims known to be ill, it was more that my doc sim didn't get to the operating table before the diagnosed sim had left the area. The only way to overcome the issue is to move the operating table to the room closest to the exit and place objects of interest (eg. Bookcase, mirror) in the room furthest from the exit. Or just ignore the fact that a possible contagious sim just walked out of the docs area and is now spreading plague. You do not have to diagnose a sim before operating on them. Just go directly to the operating table, and click on it, and select to treat sim for injury, or for illness. Your physician whenever he/she is in the same location of an operating table will know who is sick its automatic. After clicking on the operating table, if any are ill, they will show up in a list, and you select from it whom to treat.
So stop over diagnosing my dear, heal instead! LOL Take Care, hope I am not super late to reply. I did not see your reply until now.
